UV LEDs for curing – Where are they now?

UV LED technology enables us much more than successfully replacing the mercury lamp solutions, and therefore gaining reduced operational costs through longer lifetime, reduced electrical consumption, higher reliability and reduced heating of substrates. The OmniCure^® LED technology being able to control each sub segment individually enables very precise UV curing solution, enhancing the field of its application. It is shown how this particular LED characteristic enables a very sophisticated ICAD^® Technology, which improves the UV process quality at various curing applications. Furthermore, it is discussed how UV LEDs overcome the limitations shown by today commercially available wavelengths. Post exposure to 275nm UV LEDs is an attractive solution that is investigated in greater depth to explore irradiance, dose and wavelength requirements for industrial curing solutions.
